How to Input a MOV File in ProShow
If you need to create complex slideshows from photos, video clips and music -- including high-definition slideshows -- for your small business, Photodex ProShow does the job. The software is able to open a wide range of video formats, including MOV files. Even ProShow Gold, the cheapest of the ProShow versions, is able to open MOV files by default. However, you need Apple QuickTime (quicktime.com) installed on your computer before you attempt to work with this file format.
1
Launch ProShow on your computer and open or create a slideshow.
2
Select the folder that contains the MOV file in the Folder List section at the left.
3
Select the MOV file in the File List section, under the Folder List section.
4
Click "Slide" at the top of the ProShow window. Select "Insert" and click "Add Selected Files to Show" to add the MOV file to your show. You can also press the "Alt-I" keyboard shortcut.
5
Wait until the MOV file is added and press "Ctrl-S" to save the slideshow.

Pros
Easy to make amendments even for the basic users and as you gain more and more experience and get the hang of the software, your presentation becomes more and more professional looking.
Cons
You need to find the tutorials to guide you in the use of the software, But you need to spend time looking for the relevant ones, especially the complex ones, and I manage to find them mostly on youtube. And they are all over the place and with different versions of the software.
Summary
An excellent tool with easy-to-use interface

Pros
Has a lot of features and is relatively easy to use once you watch a couple of tutorials.
Cons
Is way too expensive.
Summary
Found the program on a whim and used it to create a great slide show for a relative's birthday. Had no idea how much it cost until I found that I have to buy the program to watch my slideshow without the yellow strip across the screen. When I found the price, I realized that it's way more than I can pay, so all my work was pretty much wasted. Too bad... It's a very nice program otherwise.

Pros
Recently upgraded from ProShow Gold and there's so much more control and effects in Producer. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to create a high-end photo and video slideshow.
Cons
Can be a bit of a learning curve at first, but you quickly learn your way around after making a few videos.

Pros
Glitzy and complicated
Cons
So far, it's lost the intuitive way that things could be done and removed a lot of important features. Some areas haven't changed or been developed - captioning generally is very basic, captions can't be layered in between pictures. I've run for a number of hours on a project that would have taken moments to make.
Summary
I wish that I had tried out the trial to save some money - but then, even if I had, my original programme was still overwritten and therefore unusable. Moral - if you use the old version a lot - stick with it.

Try PicturesToExe Deluxe, it suggests more powerful text layers with any complex animation. And you can mix pictures and text with any way.

Pros
Outstanding in converting images to vibrant lively (&lovely) movie!
Cool transition effects and slides styles, can trim video, has simple chroma-key ability (blue/green-screen replacement). You have full control of every aspect of the effects (timing, motion, keyframed animations, sound volume...)
Cons
When working with videos and transition effects, most of the time you'll want to freeze the video start until the video is completely visible. you can't. I though the solution will be to take a snapshot of the first frame apply the transition on the snapshot image and then start the video in the next slide. this is also impossible. I would expect the ability to take snapshots from video from such a software, it's a basic feature that is available even in windows movie maker.
Summary
Great software, really! but if you want to make a lot of work with videos, maybe you could find a different software.

Pros
Most powerful slideshow creation tool available.
Cons
No network support! Must keep files on local drive.
Summary
I have a 12TB NAS device and I can't use it with ProShow Producer. I keep all of my working files on network storage (accessed via a gigabit network and high speed NAS) and according to Photodex support, network storage of files is "Not Recommended." Translated, that means that it's not supported. This means that in order to use their software I must modify my strict storage plan in order to accommodate their failings as a program. Now I have to copy the files over to a local drive, work on them, and then copy them back (to make sure that I have room on my local drives and ensure that those files make my backup schedule). It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth for what is otherwise a nice product.

Pros
Creates fun, dynamic fusion slideshows quickly.
Interface is easy to use and customizing layouts, effects, transitions a snap.
Good if you just want to watch on your computer no export.
Cons
Eats CPU. I use 64bit advanced video editing software, this slows the system down horribly by comparison.
Doesn't work well on Vista.
Worthless export options - huge files, skipping audio, not really flash - viewers have to install a plugin!!!!
Summary
I am going to dispose of this software and find something better. This is ridiculous. I am an IT professional, experienced video editor. I have every codec and advanced editing software. This piece of .. software, crashes when adding a few seconds of video in Vista. I tried the same few seconds in a multitude of formats, codecs and containers. The same videos worked on the XP box. They have got to be kidding with the export for web and video files. For flash - it exports as a .px file and requires viewers to install a plugin - are you joking?!?!?! So it's not really flash, just uses a SWF up front. Who's bright idea was this when flash works perfectly well and is ubiquitous. The export put my system to a crawl and I could hardly do anything else. The AVI files looked terrible without desaturate and worse with it enabled. The audio skipped in some formats. A 7 minute slide show with a total of 30 seconds video exported as over 11GB. WHAT? After spending hours without success getting it to work with videos on Vista, and hours trying to export something sensible on XP, I'm getting rid of this .

Pros
Version 4 is by far the best yet. I build video presentations for clients and the software has exceeded my expectations.
Cons
It's not free. There is an optional annual upgrade cost that I feel is worth the $85 so its not really a con.
Summary
If you want to do multimedia slide shows with video, stills, audio, voice over, key framing abilities and a lot more than I can put into this space, then Producer is the software to buy.

Pros
Past versions at least worked
Cons
the program options don't work.it won't accept the registration, updates and tech support only make it worse
Summary
I have been afan of prowshow for at least 7 year and unfortunately the seem to have forgotten how to produce a functioning piece of software. I would love to be able to get version 3 back on my pc version 4 is a waste of time and money

I have been using Producers for over 4 years and it has evolved into a super multimedia software program. I had version 4 installed on Vista without any issues. I now have it on Win 7 without any issues. Considering the number of people who are successfully using Producer on Vista machines I would suggest that it just might be a local machine issue. My experiences with Photodex technical support have been excellent.
