Plug and play, works immediately.
I use this HDMI to USB adopter for recording videos and Facebook live with the use of MacBook pro. Cameras I use are Sony A7s, Canon LS1 Canon HFS11. I also record from U-verse TV. This is a plug and play adopter, no software installation. OBS recognizes all video sources immediately. I am going to purchase another one for a Mac pro at my recording studio. Only a thing I do not like is the box heats.... Read more...

Works great, but needs a 3.5mm audio input!
This device has never failed me. It's very simple to use, basically just plug & play. However, it could really use a 3.5mm audio input (aux). Yes, the HDMI carries audio, but my personal setup required audio from a different source, and not having an audio input made my overall equipment set up significantly more complex. I ended up selling mine and purchasing the Elgato Game Capture HD60 S - stream, record and share your gameplay in 1080p60, superior low latency technology, USB 3.0, for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch because it has an audio input as well as many other helpful features. Overheats, Connects/Disconnects Constantly
It kept overheating even when I was using the smallest video quality. I have a few computers with all the specs, and the capture card just didn't hold out. I tried recording anywhere from half an hour to 5 hours. Whenever I tried to record, I would spend anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour trying to get it to connect to my computer; nothing else I own has any issues connecting whatsoever. In addition, the software that they try to bundle with it or get you to download is garbage. Overall, not impressed. Great HDMI to USB dongle - recommended
I am using this HDMI to USB 3.0 dongle with a Canon EOS Rebel T7i, a CAD Audio U37 external USB mic and OBS software. I'm recording at 1080 and 30fps with no problems at all. I've recorded for over 30 minutes with no problems at all. I've also used the Imillet HDMI Video Capture with my Canon and CAD Audio U37 for doing Skype calls. Again, no problems at all. I recommend the Imillet.... Read more...

Live capture OK, capture from Contour DVR terrible.
Certainly easy to unstall on my laptop with plenty of resources. Capturing live video worked well. When I tried to capture playback from the DVR, the sound recorded very poor.Out of sync sound and the video playback was at very high speed. On playback the vedeo would freeze on the last frame and then the sound would kick in a minute or more from the last video scene. Totally out of sync.I tried all the suggestions in the instructions without success. When importing some output samples that played mildly out of sync in a vdeo player, into Vegas Pro to edit, the sound became nothing more than a high pitched shrill.Again, all the issues I was seeing were around capturing DVR plyback. Capturing live video was satisfactory.... Read more...

GREAT UNTIL ACTUALLY RECORDING — ERRORS
GREAT UNTIL ACTUALLY RECORDING — ERRORS. UNACCEPTABLE. this was wonderful for streaming live via Skype, being able to use my pro camera and hi-end stereo mic, but when recording (OBS software), upon playback there were numerous audio glitches. I get that this is a cheap um 'outsourced' version of a thing that might be perfect if made in the US (or by more competent people), but it is unacceptable to have errors. I have never actually seen anything damage footage with digital glitches like this device does, is unacceptable. I am looking for a much better one.*UPDATE: the AJA U-TAP is the thing to get. if you need one of these, get the real deal. it's worth it.... Read more...

2 Work on vMix at the same time the Lag is a bit much. Can not be used in real time to play games.
I purchased 2 of these and the lag is a bit much. They both work at the same time with vMix and they seem to be 1080 30p not 1080 60p. I have not confirmed the resolution yet. I have added a lag video with this unit I bought at $138(I put $139 on the video) New, and I purchased a different product Used and as you can tell from the video the other product is faster and has less lag. Both capture devices were tested on an independent USB 3.0 port. I have a 4 port card with controller chips for each USB 3.0 port. Overall I am happy with the purchase except I wish the lag was less obviously. It is totally unusable to play games in real time from the card. You will need to split the video and play the game independent of the capture. The price has gone up since I purchased it from the $138(I put $139 on the video) I purchased it at.I did not write the product name down I put Cheap Chinese Knock Off instead of Imillet in the video.Last but not least these units get hot to the touch. I am concerned that the heat will eventually damage the units.... Read more...

Good capture card for church
I bought this for use in our church services. We wanted to display the video feed from a video camera on the projectors. Like most other people shopping around on Amazon, I saw the Magewell and wanted to use that. We do not do the video feed thing much so I couldn't justify spending $300. I picked this item up for about half the cost. It works perfectly with our iMac. The plug and play works well. The device gets a little hot but I figure that is normal as I haven't had many interactions with video capture cards. We've only had the Imillet capture card for a week. I'll be sure to keep this updated in case it dies or keeps performing great.... Read more...

Died on day 2 - worked for a total of 2 hours
I was sooo looking forward to this thing working, and it did for a few hours straight on day 1. One drawback I didn't care for but wasn't too much of an issue was the latency.. if i remember correctly it was roughly a 2 sec delay. HOWEVER, the very next day (day of the live stream event) we tested it before the show and it was fine. A few minutes into the show and it died on us. Talk about frustrating. After the show we tested it again.. NOTHING!!. So I returned it. Now I'm forced to buy the Magewell $300 unit which has its own set of issues but at least it should work..... Read more...

Problems with two USB 3.0 chipsets
I purchased the Imillet HDMI Video Capture with USB3.0/2.0 Dongle to capture Raspberry Pi HDMI video onto a 2016 Lenovo X1 Yoga i7 2.6GHz w/ 16GB running Win 7 64-bit and using the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible chipset. The Imillet dongle would only capture a few seconds of video before either freezing completely or losing sync. I tried several video packages, including current VLC and PotPlayer 64-bit, multiple USB ports and multiple Pi's as video sources. I also confirmed current USB drivers and disabled "USB selective suspend" which often cures flaky USB 3.0 behavior. All with no success.I tried the Imillet dongle on several older machines as an experiment; first an Asus G74SX ROG i7 2.2 GHz w/ 16GB using the Fresco Logic xHCI USB3 FL1000 series chipset, next a very old Motion LE1700 Intel Core 2 CPU 1.5 GHz tablet w/ 4GB with USB 2.0 only and, finally, a more recent custom built Asus desktop i7 3.47 GHz w/ 24GB using the Renesas USB 3.0 chipset; all running Win 7 64-bit. The same small group of Pi's were used for all the experiments. The Imillet dongle worked fine on USB 2.0 ports on both the G74SX and Motion LE1700 at what appeared to be 1080p resolution. As this resolution at high frame rates can not be guaranteed on USB 2.0, it may have been operating with higher latency and/or a reduced frame rate, or some frames discarded. It also worked fine on the custom Asus desktop using USB 3.0. However, it would NOT work on the G74SX's single Fresco Logic chipset USB 3.0 port! Again, current drivers were verified and at least USB power options were altered as part of troubleshooting. As the Imillet device did not meet the actual need of capturing video onto the Lenovo X1 Yoga, I ultimately purchased a Magewell XI100DUSB-HDMI USB Capture HDMI 3.0 HD Video Capture Dongle as well. The Magewell dongle worked perfectly on the Lenovo and all other systems EXCEPT the Asus G74SX's USB 3.0 port. When capturing over USB 3.0 connections, the resulting captured video from the Magewell was crisp and clear. It is important to note that the Magewell operates differently from the Imillet when running on USB 2.0 connections! The video capture software I tested opens a lower resolution window, 720p, when the Magewell is connected via USB 2.0. The Magewell is likely down sampling the 1080p video and displaying it as 720p. For example, text displayed from the Pi is not as crisp when in this mode. As I am mostly interested in capturing text screens from the Pi, or very low frame rate video, I would have preferred a compromise mode similar to how the Imillet works where some additional latency is introduced, a lower frame rate is displayed, or some frames discarded instead; but the sampled output would remain at a resolution of 1080p rather than forcing capture output to some lower resolution.Imillet, if you are listening, fix your device to work with Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible and Fresco Logic FL1000 family chipsets.Magewell, if you are listening, fix your device to work with Fresco Logic FL1000 family chipsets AND add a selectable mode where the user can choose to have 1080p displayed at a lower frame rate, or with some frames discarded, v.s. 720p to allow use with USB 2.0.I will return or sell the Imillet and keep the Magewell with the Imillet rated one star less than the Magewell and neither device considered "perfect".... I LOVE this compared to the Magewell XI100DUSB, but sadly it does not 100% replace it.
Ok so in the questions I asked how does this compare to the Magewell XI100DUSB so here is my review comparing to that device. Now before I start the Magewell does EVERYTHING that I need. It works practically flawlessly, it's plug and play, and works with all of my devices so far. I primarily use these things for Twitch so these things need to work flawlessly for hours because troubleshooting on the fly doesn't work when you are live streaming. So with the Magewell I rarely run into issues, and most issues I would blame on OBS before Magewell. So now we have the Imillet, this device gets 4 stars and almost was 5 stars except for 1 problem I ran into. Ok so comparing this to the Magewell, it's half the price which is HUGE. With my computers I do not have the option to add a video capture card to my PC so these are crucial and paying $150 as opposed to $300 is huge, especially when I might have to get more of these in the future. This works EXACTLY like the Magewell, it's plug and play, and I don't notice anything difference in quality between both devices. BUT one major issue I ran into with this device (which is why I'm going to keep my Magewell instead of selling it and getting an additional one of these) is that the Imillet would not work with my iPad no matter what I did with it. It worked with all of my camcorders, basically anything I threw at it it worked perfectly fine, but with the iPad it would capture the screen when I plugged it in, but froze every single time even on 2 different computers running different operating systems (Windows 7, 10).Hopefully in the future when I replace my iPad with a Droid touchpad it may work with that and then I will have 0 problems with this device, but just be warned that this thing works on the same level as Magewell except for with iPads, and because it doesn't work with iPads there maybe other random devices it doesn't work with. If you need to have multiple video capture devices I would suggest owning just 1 Magewell to work as your backup and have several Imillet's as your workhorses. But like I said before this product is amazing, it's half the price of the Magewell and I highly recommend it over the Magewell as long as your device works with it. I'm holding onto this, but at the same time I'm holding onto my Magewell and if I have to make future purchases it will definitely be this device.... Read more...

Works well for Full HD Video / Audio Capture on Mac
I purchased this for use on a Mac to capture full HD video with audio, and it works well. It is powered by USB, so it does not require any extra power adapter, and it does not run excessively warm.
