Windows starting-sounds

The visitcard of windows is the music, which will played when windows is starting.

All single files can be found here:

Windows 3.1x & Windows NT 3.xx

Tada.wav called this start-up sound, which is just a second.

The Shutdown Sound: Xylophon.wav

Windows 3.1(1) for Workgroups

Interestingly, the other way around WfW uses the sounds for starting and ending as the normal 3.1 versions and NT. It is the shortest sound with less than a second. Original name Xylophon.wav

Shutdown Sound tada.wav.

The Windows 95 startup sound is something special. The first time it was not just a simple signal, but a jingle. The story behind it is something with Brian Eno, on a separate page . Duration: about 6 seconds.

Nothing per default, but when installing all audio files in setup and load the default sound scheme you hear the shutdown sound tada.wav.

Actually, the login sound. Duration 10 seconds.

The log off Sound.

The modern interpretation of the Windows 95 Sound. Duration of approximately 7 seconds.

Nothing per default, but when installing all audio files in setup and load the default sound scheme you hear the logoff sound.

Probably the strangest sound. Created for a beta version, not used in the final product. Matthew A Felton was an composer. Duration 13 seconds.

Windows Me & Windows 2000

The Windows 2000 Sound is just 5 seconds.

No sound per default. With ME you have to load the non-default `Windows-default´ sound scheme. In Win 2000 the file is present, but not used in the default scheme.

Lasts 4 seconds. Unfortunately there is no information about the artist.

The Logoff sound.

Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10

Length: 4 second. Watch a Making of Video on Channel 9.

The Logoff sound.

5 Advanced OBS Settings Tips

Streaming can be overwhelming when you're first getting started, and the advanced tab can look like a very scary place. Instead of talking about bitrates and encoding settings I'm going to describe some practical things you can do by using the toolkit provided by OBS and StreamElementsOBS.Live!

Record and Stream at the Same Time

Want to stream on Twitch and upload your videos to YouTube afterwards? Sure you could export from Twitch, but most video content usually requires some editing (splash screen!). With OBS.Live, you can hit record every time your start streaming and make an archive of all your streams!

Different Audio for the Streamer and Audience

Most of the time, the streamer and their viewers are hearing the exact same audio, but did you know you can send audio to your stream without hearing it yourself? After streaming for a few weeks you'll notice the music gets played out, fast! Keep your stream entertained with the music while you focus on the sounds of the game!

You need to start by downloading and installing a virtual audio device, which can be done for free. This will probably mess up your default audio, so before you do this take a look and see what your default playback and recording devices are in your windows volume settings and write them down or take a screenshot.

Setup your new, virtual audio device in OBS.Live by going to the settings and redirecting any application to output to the virtual audio device. This will allow your stream to listen to music while you focus on the game.

Create Short Clips with the Press of a Button (Replay Buffer)

OBS.Live has the ability to use something called a Replay Buffer that constantly saves the last 30-60s of your recording. By setting up a replay buffer hotkey, it will trigger OBS.Live to create a clip of the last 30-60s. This means after something amazing happens while you're streaming, you can quickly hit a hotkey and make a video for later.

Mute Your Microphone When You're not Talking

This is especially important if you have a microphone that pics up static or background noise. Setting up a noise gate in OBS.Live will solve this problem. A noise gate works by only allowing audio that is louder than the threshold you set it at.

Use Filters to Adjust Your Webcam

Different lighting, cameras, and environments can effect your stream. Use the Color Correction filter to adjust your webcam the same way you would your monitor. Don't be ridiculous about it! You can also use the Chroma Key filter to completely filter out any color (greenscreen) allowing us to lose less screen real estate.

Activate Chrome Key for your Greenscreen:

05/21/2020: Download The Live Cold And Black And Infinite 2018 Video:

With the recent update on nin.com from TR that they did have a fall tour planned this year but has been cancelled due to COVID-19, we all have been a little down. Silver lining about all of that is that it would be my guess that those same cities will be on the next tour in 2021 of rescheduled dates. Which means you have a full year to make plans! Let's all throw some positive vibes out there! I am feeling it will happen!

In that same email/update, Trent posted a video of a fan edited Live Cold and Black And Infinite 2018 video from user, Videotape, on YouTube. Using multiple video sources and ToolDVN's audio recordings from the run in New Orleans 2018 (which can be downloaded on the archive). They have released an amazing representation of the tour and it's asthetic... dark, gritty and raw. I was able to reach out to videotape to get the finished video and host it on the archive for your downloading pleasure and preservation. Most of the time it's very hard to get hold of users on YouTube, so I am grateful that videotape answered my call! Trent asked, "how the fuck did you pull this off?" We've got a great fanbase who knows how to tape shows! Looking forward to 2021 and seeing some shows with all of you again. In the meantime, below you can watch the performance on YouTube or click the download link to download the 3GB video file! More coming on the archive. I hope to have some special uncirculated recordings coming in the next few weeks. Enjoy.

03/16/2020: An Archive Update and Thank You:

I recently updated everyone who has supproted the archive through the GoFundMe Page while I am finishing my degree. I know it’s been a long time since I have last updated everyone. I apologize for this. My goal was to keep adding things and find new recordings. Well, in the 1.5 years since I started this donation page while I am in school, I have added 132 video recordings to the archive as well as just about 120 audio sources! Some of the audio sources are upgrades to things that are on the archive already, which is great! I hope to keep adding things as I receive them in my free time. You can read more about my schooling, new tapes and a physical release of something cool by clicking the image below. Keep checking back to the archive as I will still be adding stuff regularly!

11/16/2019: The NIN Live Archive's Top Recordings:

As I listen to almost every recording that I upload onto the archive. Fans have been asking me what my favorite recordings are on the site. So for 10 years of the site, here is my 10(ish) recordings that I love and listen to a lot. Whether it's in the car, while I'm studying, or working out. These recordings are always in my rotation of music. If you have 32 hours of free time, you can listen to what I think are essential Nine Inch Nails recordings and performances.

08/20/2019: Welcome to the Nine Inch Nails Live Archive:

Welcome to the small corner of the internet that pertains to everything Nine Inch Nails' live! From here, you can browse and download almost 1,100 different audio recordings from 642 concerts, as well as over 150 video recordings dating all the way back to 1988. This includes other performances from Trent's related acts as well. To keep up to date with what is being added, check the archive updates column to the right on this page. I also have social media accounts to help make people more aware of this project in order to unsurface recordings that are not here on the archive. You can follow the archive on many of the standard sites here. In order to browse the archives, click the "NIN LIVE ARCHIVES" tab above to browse each year that includes every tour. Click on the "NIN DRIVE" tab if you wish to download everything that has been added to the archive in audio format thus far (v3.0 is the most recent, more updates to follow).

I am always looking to add more recordings to the archive. Any source is welcome to the archive (including an extra source for shows that have recordings available!). I am able to transfer just about any sort of media you can think of. DAT, MD, CD, Cassette, Microcassette MiniDV, HDV, VHS etc. etc. Nothing is off limits. This site is here to preserve all of Nine Inch Nails' performances over the years and I would love to gather anything possible. This also includes any setlists, ticket stubs, posters that aren't already here on the website. Please get in contact or send me a message on one of the other social media sites. I would love to chat!

Take a look around! Hope you enjoy listening back to a show you have seen in the past. A lot of great stuff in here.

Need Your Help NIN Fans:

NIN fans, I need some help from you!! I am looking for any ticket stub/poster/setlist sheet from any past Nine Inch Nails shows! A lot of you have been awesome already and sent me in a few hundred concert stubs to add to the archive, THANK YOU! But obviously, there are still a lot to acquire! Check the date in the archive to see if there is a stub, if not, please send it over! Photos or scans are totally fine!

I am always looking for new sources. If you have taped Nine Inch Nails in the past, audio or video, and do not see it here on the site. Please get in contact with me via email, twitter, smoke signals to have it added to the archive! I am always looking to add more information to unknown recordings here at the site to make it the most comprehensive and detailed archive possible. If you do not have the means to transfer the tape, I can transfer almost every since piece of media you throw at me if you send it over! I will send it back in a reasonable amount of time.
